What is spot UV printing?

Spot UV printing is a process that puts raised lettering and images on paper to create an eye-catching, three-dimensional effect. With our embossed business cards, you can decide which design elements you want to pop out.

Is there a limit to how much or where I can use spot UV with my design?

You can use the special finish on up to 75% of the front and back of your card — just make sure the spot UV varnish is applied within the printing safety area (shown as a dotted line in our design studio).

Is spot UV the same thing as embossed gloss?

Yes, the type of printing we use is also known as embossed gloss. This process actually has a lot of names, so you might see this type of product listed elsewhere as embossed business cards, 3D business cards, spot gloss business cards or raised print business cards.

How thick is the paper on these cards? What are the dimensions of the cards?

Our spot UV business cards are made using either 300 gsm standard paper or 360 gsm premium paper.

Can you have the spot UV finish on both sides? Is two-sided printing included in the price?

For now, you can only have the special finish on the front of your 3D-printed card. But we are working towards offering that option at some point in the future. In the meantime, you can get customised printing on the back of your card for an additional fee.

Can I get spot UV business cards with rounded corners? Or in a square shape?

Yes, you can order them with rounded corners or in a square shape.

How thick is the spot UV coating?

The polymer gloss is 0.05 mm (50 microns) thick.
