Shining a light on women-owned businesses.

For International Women’s Day, we are featuring some inspiring, successful business women who persist in the pursuit of their passions. As the official partner of Liverpool Football Club, we asked members of Liverpool FC Women’s team to choose their favourite woman-owned small business to highlight and celebrate. When you shop women-owned businesses, you not only support them but you encourage others to do the same. Let’s celebrate women and all that they do, this month and every month moving forward. #WomenInBusiness

Women championing women.

Watch our video to see who football players from the Liverpool women’s team chose as their favourite female business owners to celebrate.

Rhianna Jones Beauty By Rhianna, Prescot

Chosen by Ashley Hodgson, Forward

A fully qualified beauty therapist and nail technician, Rhianna started out working from her own home. During lockdown she decided she needed somewhere to do her nail and beauty appointments. She was determined to make it work and now has her own space. She loves the indepence and has the outlook that if you love the job, it doesn’t feel like working.

“Being in the nail industry is so inspiring, it’s full of strong women constantly reaching their goals. There’s nothing more powerful than a woman who’s built her business from nothing.”

Francesca Kearns Francesca Couture, Liverpool

Chosen by Missy Bo Kearnes, Midfielder

Francesca started her own fashion brand when she was just 21. After starting out in an office in a building yard, 12 years later she now has her own space. Francesca Couture specialises in exclusively designed clothing, made in-house. She ensures that her label remains exclusive, as only small quantities are made of each ready-to-wear design, and bespoke designs can be created for any occasion.

“In Liverpool there are a handful of women who have similar businesses to mine, who I can always reach out to if I need advice. I like to think that they feel that they are always welcome to come to me in the same way.”

Anouska Skeete & Bianca Skeete Host Oxton, Merseyside

Chosen by Carla Humphrey, Midfielder

Host Oxton is a concept store serving specialty coffee, that supports other local independent businesses and has a focus on well-being. During the pandemic, Covid rules meant that UK hospitality businesses needed to offer food as well as drinks to remain open. This took off for Anouska and Bianca, and now the fresh food is what Host is known for. They live by the motto “we rise by lifting others”, and stand by that in everything they do.

“As sisters we inspire each other, we are so different so what one lacks the other adds, and we are also lucky enough to have two other sisters that inspire us too.”
